RUMFORD – Newly hired Town Manager Steve Eldridge will attend his first selectmen’s meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6.
Among the agenda items is a request by businessman Peter Hatzis for town officials to grant a 30-day extension for him to land two businesses at Abbott Farm Plaza.
Hatzis agreed to purchase the former shopping center and surrounding 78 acres on Route 2 west from the town last month for $220,000. As part of the agreement before closure on the property, town officials required Hatzis to contract with at least two businesses by Jan. 19 to move there.
Eldridge said the board may or may not call a closed session prior to making its decision.
The board may also decide whether to support proposed legislation calling for a reduction in the county tax that towns with police departments pay to support the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department.
Other agenda items include consideration of a request to establish a handicapped-accessible parking space at the River Valley Technology Center on Lowell Street, and a request for storm line diversion on Crescent Avenue.
