LIVERMORE FALLS – There’s a red, white and blue box with the American Legion seal on it just waiting for worn, faded or tattered flags.

Members of the American Legion George Bunten Post 10 have the new, locked drop-off box on posts outside of the 17 Reynolds Ave. hall.

Legionnaire Don Simoneau of Fayette made the box, which has a pull-down door similar to a mailbox. The post supplied the material for it and helped install the posts for it.

Post 10 Commander Normand Chabot said Tuesday that people have already used the new box to drop off worn flags awaiting proper disposal.

The post holds an annual flag disposal ceremony in which the flags are burned.

Members of the veterans organizations as well as Scouts, Brownies and similar groups take part in the ceremony.
