HARRISON – Harrison is one of the first towns in the Oxford Hills offering a searchable database of its property tax assessments.

The free database is available on the town’s Web site. It allows users to view assessed values of properties, property owners, and their addresses using several different search methods.

Users may search by an owner’s last name, or get a list of all properties owned by people whose last name begins with a certain letter.

Users can also search by property location, by typing in a street address, or a map and lot number.

Deputy Town Clerk Penny Bean said the transfer of the information onto the Web site was made easier by the town’s switch to new software for municipal government accounting.

She said the information will be updated as time allows. She wants to add town maps into the database as well, and provide a column to show the amount of taxes assessed on the properties.

Harrison’s assessment database is modeled after the one used in neighboring Casco. That database is more complete, she said.
