LEWISTON – Wheeler D. Tripp, 75, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in West Poland on Aug. 30, 1929, the son of Colby and Irma Tibbetts Tripp.

He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1947.

He had been employed as a weaver at Bates Mill in Lewiston for many years.

He enjoyed fairs, horse racing and camping.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Olive Malier on June 19, 1954.

He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; three sons, Dale Tripp of Lewiston, Gary and Betty Tripp of Auburn, and Colby and Darlene Tripp of Winthrop; four daughters, Joyce and Eddie Richardson of Lewiston, Janet and Louis St. Pierre of Lewiston, Linda and Ronald Dulac of Auburn, and Valerie Tripp and her companion, George Butterfield, of Livermore Falls; two sisters, Glenys Viitala of Harrison, and Leah Willis of Westbrook; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.
