This is in response to Rex Rhoades’ column on Jan 2. After reading his latest columns, I was wondering when he would come out of his socialist closet concerning terrorists. The same tactics were used during the Vietnam War. We were made to look so bad by the press that Americans lost their resolve to see things through. The NVA has stated that they didn’t defeat us on the battlefield, but at the peace talks.

The same will happen if we decide to go that route again – tyranny and persecution.

Rhoades’ type of rhetoric is what is fueling the terrorists. They don’t want our assistance. They only want to rule and oppress. He mentions terrorism experts. Who, Richard Clark?

I don’t believe Rhoades is looking very hard on the Web. Are MoveOn.org and the mainstream media his only sources for information? Has he spoken to any of our soldiers who have been there and are still there? He couldn’t have.

I have a son over there and e-mail several others. The media are not revealing that over 70 percent of Iraq’s people are tired of the terrorists and want to move on. But that doesn’t sell papers and certainly doesn’t move their ideology forward.

Rhoades is so willing to agree with colleagues in The Associated Press and the alphabet networks who are only bent on showing the bad and none of the good. Rhoades needs to scratch beyond the surface and see what he might find.
