Three immigrants who relocated to Lewiston-Auburn from Jamaica, Iran and Togo will share their histories and answer questions about immigration in an open forum on Jan. 25.

Speakers include: Charles Carnegie, an associate anthropology professor at Bates College who came to America from Jamaica in 1972; Nasser Rohani, a programmer and analyst at L.L. Bean who left Iran and came to America in 1985; and Pierre Teko, who lived in Togo and moved to Maine in 2000.

The panel will be moderated by Ismail Ahmed, a Somali immigrant who attends the University of Southern Maine and is a representative of the International Student Association of Lewiston/Auburn.

The forum will be held from 5:45 to 7 p.m. and will include a presentation by each of the speakers and an open question and answer session. It will be held at Lewiston-Auburn College at 51 Westminster St. in Lewiston.

The event is free and open to the public.

In case of inclement weather, call the university’s storm line at 753-6595 for cancellation information. If school is canceled, there will be no forum.

The event will be presented by Lewiston-Auburn College and the World Affairs Council of Maine, a nonprofit group dedicated to educating the public on international issues.
