NEW GLOUCESTER – New Gloucester selectmen on Monday appointed three citizens to volunteer committees, and approved warrants and payrolls.

The board then met in executive session with resident A. Wayne Cobb to discuss the possible acquisition of property. No action was taken, except a request to obtain more information, board Chairman Steve Libby said.

Pamela Slye was named to a two-year term to serve on the Budget Committee, and Jeffrey Hamilton Sr. was named to the Fairgrounds Committee.

Also, Stephen Chandler was appointed to the Zoning Committee, a post that he has held in the past.

Finally, Town Manager Rosemary Kulow announced that a skating and sleigh ride fund-raiser will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the New Gloucester Fairgrounds to benefit New Gloucester firefighter George Carmen and Jeffrey Hamilton Jr. The public is invited.
