NEW SHARON – A Mercer woman died Monday night from injuries she received in a two-vehicle collision Monday morning on Route 2.
Candace Jameson, 22, received severe head trauma after she lost control of her vehicle, which slid into the opposite lane and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, Maine State Trooper Randy Keaten said.
Jameson was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington and transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
She had been listed in critical condition late Monday afternoon and was pronounced dead at 7 p.m., Keaten said.
Her husband, Scott Jameson, was at the hospital when she died, the trooper said.
The driver of the other vehicle, Joshua Atwood, 22, of Wilton, was taken to Franklin Memorial after the 8:40 a.m. accident and was treated and released.
According to an obituary, Jameson and her husband had recently been accepted to serve as missionaries in Africa.
Jameson grew up in Winthrop, graduating from high school there in 2000. She graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington four years later.
