LEWISTON – The Lewiston School Committee gave its OK Monday to forward a list of school improvement projects to the city for possible funding.

The committee will ask the city to include $865,000 worth of school improvements in next year’s city bond package. Proposed improvements include work on Martel and Pettingill elementary schools’ roofs; work on a bus lane and the replacement of asbestos floor tile at Montello Elementary School; roof repairs, window replacement and clock tower renovation at Lewiston Middle School; and work on the storm water retention system and upgrades to plumbing and fixtures at Lewiston High School.

The School Committee agreed Monday to forward those requests to the city. If the City Council approves, the projects will be added to a capital improvements bond package that would provide money for both school and city projects in 2006.
