GREENWOOD – Walter “Pee Wee” Grover Osgood, 72, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully at the Ledgeview Nursing Home Wednesday, Jan. 12.

He was born in Bethel on Feb. 22, 1932, the son of Francis and Beatrice Brown Osgood.

Pee Wee was an avid hunter and fisherman. He greatly enjoyed spending time in the fall at the Osgood hunting camp in East Bethel with his brother, son, nephews and longtime friend, who he will be sorely missed by, Johnny Winslow.

Pee Wee joined the United States Army as a young man and fought in the Korean War. After his service, he worked at Gilbert Manufacturing (formerly Ecko Wood Products) until he retired in 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Grete Osgood, of Greenwood; two sons, Rickie Osgood and his wife, Melissa, of Greenwood, and Eugene Osgood and his wife, Debra, of Yulee, Fla.; one daughter, Kelly Osgood-Newkirk and her husband, Steve, of Bryant Pond; two brothers, Chester Osgood and his wife, Carolyn, of Waterford, and Frank Osgood and his wife, Lillian, of Berlin, N.H.; one sister, Marion Kimball of Albany; three grandsons; five granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Susan Osgood; two brothers, George Brown and Robert Osgood; and two sisters, Florence Aubin and Dorothy Bennett.
