SOUTH PARIS – Carolyn Audrey Knightly, 79, of Norway, died Thursday, Jan. 13, at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris after a long illness.

She was born in Greenwood on Oct. 23, 1925, to George Norman Emmons and Ida May (Morgan) Emmons. She graduated from West Paris High School in 1944.

In 1946, she married Walter L. Knightly of Norway.

She worked for J.J. Newberry Company, was office manager for W.H. Knightly Oil Company and owned The Corner Store in South Paris until her retirement in 1991.

She was a member of the Second Congregational Church and the V.F.W. women’s auxiliary.

She loved animals and nature, she fished, camped, and in her last years at home she fed and watched the birds.

She is survived by a daughter, Sally Bradford; and a son, Richard Knightly, both of Norway; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and a great-grandson.

She was predeceased by her brothers, W. Scott Emmons and G. Norton Emmons; and a sister, Dorothy Waisanen.
