STUART, Fla. – Sally Drigotas Pollard, 93, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 7, surrounded by her sons, James and Steven, granddaughter Kristen Marks, and loving neighbors Dotti and Joe Puntino.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 30, 1911, one of seven children of Martin and Carusa Drigotas.

She was educated in Lewiston and Auburn schools and joined the AT&T Company in 1930 as a telephone operator, in the Ash Street office.

Following her marriage to James F. Pollard, of Rumford, in 1943, she took a break from work to spend time, attention, and love raising her two sons.

She returned to work for “Ma Bell,” and eventually worked a total of 32 years before retiring in 1977.

She continued to be active in the Telephone Company Pioneers Association, and eagerly attended gatherings in Maine and Florida throughout her retirement years.

Blessed with good health until the very end of her life, she spent summers at her home in Maine and the last 20 winters in the Jupiter, Hobe Sound and Stuart areas of Florida. Throughout her lifetime she made many good friends and acquaintances wherever she lived in Maine and Florida.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Girard of Lewiston, and Ann Fahey of Auburn; her brother, Ed Drigotas of Palm Bay, Fla.; sons, James of Ogunquit, and Steven of Leesburg, Va.; granddaughter, Kristen Pollard Marks; and two great-grandchildren, Jillian and Drew Marks.

She was predeceased by her husband, James F. Pollard; a sister, Blanch (Betty) Robinson; and brothers, John (Bucky) Drigotas and Frank M. Drigotas Sr.
