LEWISTON – Sportscaster Tom Caron, a Lewiston native, will speak at the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting Thursday, Jan. 27, in the Ramada Conference Center.

Caron is studio host for the New England Sports Network’s Boston Bruins coverage and Red Sox coverage, and a Hockey East play-by-play announcer.

He started at NESN in 1996 as co-host of “Front Row,” a nightly sports magazine program.

Before joining NESN, he worked for WGME-TV in Portland for five years, hosting weekly ski segments and producing several half-hour specials each year. In 1993, Caron was hired by the Portland Pirates to serve as their radio play-by-play announcer and communications director.

“Tom Caron is a very special speaker for two reasons,” said Chip Morrison, president of the Androscoggin County Chamber. “First, he is a graduate of Lewiston High School who has risen to prominence in sports broadcasting.

Second, he was an integral part of the Red Sox postseason success, bringing us commentary and interviews following each game of the playoffs and World Series.”

The annual meeting will start at 5 p.m. at the Ramada, 490 Pleasant St.

Early registration is required. Registration is $45 per person. Table sponsorships (including 10 tickets) are $600. People can make a reservation by calling the Chamber, 783-2249.
