I think underage drinking is becoming a problem in the United States. The drinking law states that you have to be over 21 years old to drink. Teens are putting their hands on alcohol because they can easily get it from home, according to the Web site www.alcohol.com.

Families should lock the alcohol in a place where their teens cannot reach it. Police have pulled over about 3,000 people for drinking while driving with their permits each month throughout 48 states. Some people wanted to lower the drinking age. I think that they shouldn’t lower the drinking age. If a person is caught drinking and driving while underage, he would lose his license for about a year depending on the amount of alcohol.

Parents should hide the alcohol and not show or tell teens to make it harder for teens to get alcohol from their families and friends. Bar owners should check the ID’s of the people. This is the only way to reduce underage drinking.

Our community needs to be informed about the dangers of underage drinking.
