Dear Sun Spots: We will be celebrating the centennial of our parish this coming year and one of the things we would like to do is recognize the former pastors of St. John and St. Athanasius. We have found pictures of the former pastors of St. John Church but we are looking for pictures of former pastors of St. Athanasius. If anyone has any of these pictures or knows where we can locate them, we would appreciate hearing from you.
The names of the former pastors are: the Rev. Edward Hurley, 1886-1891; the Rev. Nicholas Horan, 1891-1901; the Rev. Joseph Laflamme, 1901-1905; the Rev. Ambrose Barry, 1905-1920; the Rev. Patrick Flanagan, 1920-1926; the Rev. Timothy O’Mahoney, 1926-1951; the Rev. Clement Frazier, 1951-1959; the Rev. Edward Lynch, 1959-1968; the Rev. Herman Delaney, 1968-1969; and the Rev. Francis Cox, 1969-1970.
If anyone has any of these pictures and would like to share them with us, please contact me at 8 Lochness Road, Rumford, 04276, (207) 364-7240. – Anna Justard, Rumford.
Dear Sun Spots: Each member in our class is working on a school project called “Parades of States.” We are responsible for gathering as much information about the state as we can to help “sell” the state. I have chosen your state of Maine for my presentation. If any of your readers would help me out by sending me any pictures, postcards, a used license plate, facts, products, etc., from your state, it would be greatly appreciated. Please send them to: Cascade Christian Schools, 601 Ninth Ave. SE, Puyallup, WA 98372. Thank you. – Britni Johnson, Washington.

Dear Sun Spots: My grandchildren make craft boxes and decorate them with wire ribbon and pieces of broken jewelry. If anyone has old watches, jewelry, etc., that they would like to donate to creative kids, we sure would make use of them. Also, any decorative pieces of ribbon would be great. Please send to Werzanski Kids, 10 High St., Phillips, ME 04966. Thanks so much. – Judy Lisherness, North Anson.
Dear Sun Spots: I would like to thank the kind gentleman who gave me his $25 gift certificate for the Books ‘n Things bookstore. He overheard me talking to the owner about my third-graders at the Minot Consolidated School and told me to “buy something for the kids” with his gift certificate. As a result of his generosity, our class now has seven new novels to read. We are truly grateful. – Jeanne Edmunds, Minot.
