FARMINGTON – Richard A. “Dick” Brindley, 83, of Farmington, died Thursday evening, Jan. 20, at Edgewood Manor in Farmington.
He was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Livermore, a son of Reginald Arthur and Gladys (Campbell) Brindley. He received his education in Kingfield schools and was raised by his father and stepmother, Lilla Mae Hutchins Howe Brindley.
Many local folks know Dick from his 25-plus year job as a dedicated school bus driver for S.A.D. 9. He took great pride in safely transporting his “extended family” to and from school and sporting events. He knew the value of friendship and extended that to many young people in the S.A.D. 9 community.
He was a member of the Farmington Masonic Lodge and enjoyed motorcycling, gardening and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Wheeler) Doak Brindley, of Farmington; children, Connie Y. Lambert of Redwood City, Calif., Patricia M. Gilmore of Gig Harbor, Wash., Barbara Y. Adams and her husband, Harold F. Adams, of Auburn, and Robyn L. Lupone and her husband, John (Jack) C. Lupone of Winthrop; two sisters, Ruth LaHouse and Bertha Sawyer, both of Kingfield.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Blanche L. Howe Young Brindley; a son, Richard A. Brindley; sisters, Evangeline Kennedy, Minnie Lovejoy and Willetta Howe; and brothers, Charles Howe, Everett Howe and Arthur Brindley.
