PORTLAND – Bryan Holden recorded a goal and two assists to lead Cape Elizabeth to a 4-1 win over Windale in Western B hockey action at the Portland Ice Arena Saturday.

Brett Brown, who had a pair of assists, fed Dan Rautenberg at 12:52 of the first period for the eventual game-winner as the Capers (8-2) took a 3-0 lead after one.

Junior forward Sam Frost nailed an unassisted goal at the 11:30 mark of the second period to shrink the margin temporarily for the only Ice Dogs’ (3-4) goal of the contest.

Windale goalie Tavis Hasenfus turned back 27 shots.

Biddeford 11, G-NG/Poland 4

HEBRON – Four different players scored two goals apiece as Biddeford cruised to an 11-4 victory over G-NG/Poland in hockey action Saturday.

The Tigers kicked up some ice in the third period for six goals to improve upon a 5-2 lead and closed the door on the Knights. Andrew Veilleux recorded a

pair of goals and assists in the winning effort.

Junior center Dylan Michaud tallied a pair of goals for the Knights (0-8-2), while Freshman center Cory Cormier notched a goal and an assist. Joe Foster made 27 saves in net for G-NG/Poland.

Hebron 10, New Hampton 2

HEBRON – Mike Turk scored a pair of goals to lead Hebron Academy to a convincing 10-2 win over North Hampton in prep hockey action on Saturday.

The Lumberjacks scored a pair of goals in the first period before exploding for five second-period goals to put the game out of reach.

Franco Reda made 10 saves on eight shots to record the win.

Boys’ basketball

Poland 65, Yarmouth 52

YARMOUTH – Max Levine torched the nets for 23 points while Jon Lecznar chipped in with 12 and 16 boards to lead Poland to a 65-52 win over Yarmouth in WMC boys’ basketball Saturday.

The Knights used an 18-12 run in the third period to effectivley put the game out of reach with Alex Smith, who added 11 points, as they evened their record at 6-6 for the season.

The Clippers were led by Andy Crawford with 18 points.
