I hope the judge can find it in his heart to dismiss the charges against Dean Libby for trying to rescue his puppy (Jan. 23). In these days when people inflict unspeakable cruelty on animals, we ought to recognize the commitment this man had to his animal and the motivation to “disobey” the officer. Seems like it could have been handled some other way. Our public servants sometimes serve their own needs rather than ours.

And before anyone says that if he had put his own life at risk, someone would have had to put theirs at risk to rescue him, just let me say I understand, but did he have to be arrested?

Let’s have the facts here. Did he injure the officer?

I also hope the Sun Journal follows this case. I’ll donate to his fine.
