RUMFORD – Dorothy M. Swan, 86, formerly of Bethel, died in Rumford on Monday, Jan. 24.
She was born in Bethel on Aug. 6, 1918, the daughter of the late Florence (Cross) and Napoleon Machia.
She attended Gould Academy, and she loved music and playing the piano.
She was a patient at Victorian Villa Boarding and Nursing Center for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Guy E. Swan of Nashua, N.H.; two sons, Bradley Swan of Nashua, N.H., and Delbert Bryant of Berlin, N.H.; three daughters, Jo-Anne Wright and her husband, Richard, of Bethel, Melissa Silverman and her husband, Steven, of New York, and Marie Mayo and her husband, Jim, of Rochester, N.H.; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Linwood Machia; a son, Wayne Wilcox; a daughter, Carolyn Taylor; and two infant daughters, Joyce F. Bryant and Marilyn Wilcox.
