RANGELEY – The 6th annual Busch North Scene snowmobile poker run for charity will take place Saturday, Jan. 29, starting at the Rangeley Inn. Many NASCAR Busch North Series drivers and team members will be joining the ride this year.

The proceeds from the ride will go to several charities, including the Maine Special Olympics and the Busch North Series Women’s Auxiliary and its various charities.

The day will start with an optional 11 a.m. drivers meeting at the Rangeley Inn. Ride credentials may be purchased for $20 at the Rangeley Inn all day, and participants may ride with the 11 a.m. group or ride with their own group at any time during the day. The $20 ride credential also gives the rider admission to the entertainment that night at Rangeley Inn, along with dinner specials planned exclusively for those with a ride credential.

The winner will receive a prize package that includes a new snowmobile helmet and attire. There will be prizes for second and third hands as well.

One of the stops on the poker run will be the Gingerbread House, where riders will receive a free lunch just for showing their credential. Other stops on the ride include Oquossoc Marine, Ecopelagicon Nature Store, Niboban Camps, Red Onion Restaurant and Four Seasons Cafe, with a bonus stop at North Country Inn bed-and-breakfast.

Raffle prizes and auction items are also planned for the event. Busch North Scene will award the 2004 Busch North Scene Driver of the Year at the event, along with the 2004 Fans Favorite Driver award. As part of the evening entertainment, three nationally known comedians will perform at 9 p.m.

The ride is open to everyone, and riding is optional. Rental machines are available in Rangeley for those who want to ride but do not own a machine. More information may be obtained by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 1-800-685-2537.
