LISBON – The Moxie Planning Committee has come up with a theme for this year’s three-day Moxie Festival, “Moxie and ME, The Way Life Should Be,” which will highlight the diversity that the state has to offer.

“Maine offers its people and those from away a little bit of everything, particularly during the summertime,” said Sue Conroy, Moxie Committee chairwoman.

With outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and whitewater rafting, to Maine tourmaline and other minerals, the state offers many options to anyone spending summers. Additionally, there are many signature businesses like L.L. Bean and other companies, featuring Maine-made crafts that are representative of the state’s unique values.

“We hope to partner with businesses, organizations and others that represent Maine and want to highlight the best that Maine has to offer, because Mainers certainly have Moxie” said Conroy.

The yearly event, which draws upward of 30,000 people to the town each July, will celebrate its 23rd year the weekend of July 8, 9 and 10.

Festival organizers welcome input from organizations, businesses and others wanted to highlight their contributions to Maine and its special character.

Anyone interesting in volunteering or who may have suggestions about the festival is welcome at the monthly planning meetings, which usually take place the second Tuesday of the month.

For additional information on the festival or becoming a participant in the parade, people can contact Conroy at 353-2050 or 353-5354.
