LEWISTON – Marie B. (Labbe) Obie, 86, of 10 Oak Park, formerly of 25 Lincoln Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Marshwood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for the past 17 months.

Born in Berlin, N.H., a daughter of Joseph and Annie Emond Brousseau, she was educated in Lewiston schools.

She was a member of the former St. Mary’s Parish and Lewiston Senior Citizens. She was married to Philippe L. Labbe on Aug. 22, 1936, and he died 1981.

She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, and worked at Bath Iron Works during World War II, Clark Shoe, and Lown Shoe for many years. She also worked at Coburn School with the Head Start Program, until her retirement in 1989.

She will always be remembered for her smile. She loved being around her family, and will be sadly missed by her husband, family, and all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Obie, of Lewiston, whom she married May 18, 1991; five daughters, and spouses, William and Lorraine Crawford, Doris Goyette, Sid and Carmen Cohen, Linda and fiance, Geoff Shelley, Suzanne Labbe and her companion, Dennis Richmond; four sons, and spouses, Fernand and Pauline Labbe, Gerard and Diane Labbe, Larry Labbe, Michael and Noella Labbe; a daughter-in-law, Louise Labbe; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Cindy Caron and husband, Joel; two stepsons, Robert Obie and wife, Donna, and Jerry Obie; and five stepgrandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Lucien Labbe; two grandsons, Brian and Edouard Labbe; and three great-grandchildren, Chrystal Lynn Labbe, and Taliana and Ariano Izon.
