PERU – A SummerFest meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in Peru Elementary School. Several community members are interested in holding a Peru SummerFest on Sept. 9 and 10, but it can only happen with additional help from the community, organizers said. People who are interested in volunteering on the committee or donating an hour on one day of the event are being urged to attend this meeting. RUMFORD – New hours of operation for Black Mountain of Maine are: Tuesday 2 to 9 p.m., Wednesday 2 to 9 p.m., Thursday noon to 9 p.m., Friday noon to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed Monday. Women’s ski workshops

RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine is offering “Ladies Turn” all-women ski workshops. The instructors will be certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America. The cost is $70 for the two-day session, which includes lessons and lift tickets for both days. A speaker will be present for lunch on each day. More information may be obtained by calling 364-8977.
