BRUNSWICK – The Maine Jazz Alliance will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St., in the Morrell Meeting Room.

After a short business meeting, the alliance will present a jazz concert and open jam session led by Sam Sherry and his group, Ursa Major.

Along with Sherry on bass, the group features Chris Humphrey on piano and vocals, Dave Wells on saxophone and Steve Grover.

The concert is open to members and nonmembers.

Sherry, Humphrey, Wells and Grover are all well-known around the state for their work as musicians, educators and composers.

The second set will be a jam session with participation open to all jazz players, so the alliance is encouraging musicians to bring their instruments and sign up for a turn onstage.

For members, the meeting portion includes election of officers.

The slate of officers is Neil Lamb, vice president; Erika Aberg, treasurer; and Roy Healy, secretary. Mark Kleinhaut will be stepping down as president at the end of January and that position will be unfilled at this time.

Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. People can call 373-0306 for more information or directions to the library.
