WATERVILLE – Colby Dance Theater will present an original adaptation of “Millions of Cats” in early February.

This timeless children’s story by Wanda Gág will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, in the Strider Theater, Runnals Building, on the Colby campus.

Influenced by European folklore, “Millions of Cats” is the tale of a gentle peasant who sets out to find a cat for himself and his wife. He comes at last to a hill “quite covered with cats.” Unable to choose just one, he begins his trek home with millions of cats trailing after him.

Under the direction of Tina Wentzel, the cast – students in a course on drama and dance – adapted the story into movement, choreographing the show.

General admission, $3; students and seniors, $2. For ticket information, call 872-3358 between 5 and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday the week of the performance; or call 872-3388 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
