The bus arrived late Friday, but the Lewiston Maineiacs offense certainly didn’t.

Lewiston scored four goals in the opening period, including three straight, to lift the Maineiacs to a 4-2 win over Baie-Comeau.

Mathieu Aubin had two goals and an assist for Lewiston while Alex Bourret had a goal and two assists. Alexandre Picard added a goal, and Chad Denny had a pair of assists.

Lewiston’s bus arrived at the rink late, delaying the game for 45 minutes Friday night. Still, the Maineiacs managed to avenge their 4-3 loss to the Drakkar last weekend. Lewiston’s only two losses since Christmas have come against Baie-Comeau.

The Maineiacs got on the board just 35 seconds into the game when Denny set up Aubin.

Baie-Comeau tied the game on the power play at 4:18 on a tally by Alexandre Picard-Hooper.

The rest of the period, however, was all Maineiacs. Aubin scored his 12th of the year on the power play at 5:38. Bourret followed with his 24th of the season at 8:20. Picard scored his 29th with just 2:58 left in the opening period.

Baie-Comeau got a power-play goal from Alexandre Dulac-Lemelin midway through the final period, but could score on Jaroslav Halak again. Halak (18-9-3) had 30 saves.

The Maineiacs play at Chicoutimi for a 4 p.m. game this afternoon.
