On December 16, Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls put on a musical called Santa’s Stuck in the Fifties. The play was directed by fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Christine Fraizer and ETS teacher, Mrs. Karen Downing. The cast included students from grades four through six, Santa Claus was played by fifth grader Josh Caron and Mrs. Claus was played by fourth grader Mary McKellick. The make-up was done by Mrs. Mitzie McKellick and the sound was done by Mr. Tim McKellick (as you can see show biz runs in the family). Junior high language arts teacher, Mrs. Barbara Reilly accompanied on the piano.

The students performed the play for the school in the afternoon and then for their parents and relatives at seven that night. There was lots of singing, dancing and yes, some comedy. These students worked very hard almost everyday after school to make this play everything it turned out to be. And trust me it turned out great. People walked out of the gym laughing, and I only heard good compliments from people about the play.

This play turned out great and I can only say, I feel bad for those who couldn’t see it.
