AUGUSTA – Sharon A. Millett, owner of Coldwell Banker Millett Realty in Auburn, has been elected to serve as chairman of the Maine Real Estate Commission. The commission is made up of six individuals appointed by the governor and charged with the regulation and oversight of all of Maine’s real estate licensees. Their job is to protect and promote the best interests of Maine’s consumers in their real estate dealings.

Millett served on the commission from 1987 through 1993, having been appointed to serve two terms by then-Gov. John McKernan. She was reappointed by Gov. Angus King in 2000 and more recently by Gov. John Baldacci.

Millett served as president of the National Association of Realtors in 1999. The association is the world’s largest trade association, with more than 1 million nationwide and bilateral partnerships with real estate trade organizations in 45 countries.

She was chairman of the Fannie Mae National Advisory Council in 2000. She was also the co-president of the International Consortium of Real Estate Associations, an organization of 25 member countries throughout the world.

As owner of Coldwell Banker Millett Realty, Millett oversees the operations of the full-service residential and commercial brokerage firm and its sales force of 35 agents.

Millett is a director of the Sisters of Charity Health System and Auburn Savings Bank. She is a member of the Maineiacs Development Council.

She lives in Poland Spring with her husband, Jerry.
