AUBURN – You know that useless Transpass device you’ve been using as a paperweight in your car? The chance to get rid of it is Monday, when Maine Turnpike Authority crews will be collecting the devices in Auburn.

Highway officials will set up in two locations throughout the day Monday to collect the obsolete Transpass devices for recycling.

They will then move to other cities and towns as the collection process continues throughout the week.

Transpass customers have been notified of the collection sites through mailings and newspaper advertisements. For the complete Transpass recycling schedule, users can visit the Web site at www.maineturnpike.com.

In Auburn on Monday, Transpass devices will be collected at the Auburn Park and Ride lot from 7 to 9 a.m. and again from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Turnpike staff will also be at the Hannaford store at 95 Spring St. between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
