AUBURN – Diane J. Gauthier, 56, of 108 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, died Sunday evening Feb. 6, at Clover Manor Nursing Home following a short illness.

She was born in Augusta, on Dec. 26, 1948, the daughter of Edward and Juliette (Dube) Thornton, and had been a resident of this community most of her life.

She was employed as a store clerk at the Big Apple on Main Street in Lewiston for the past two years. She enjoyed working and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Alcide C. Gauthier, whom she married on July 12, 1981, of Lewiston; two daughters, Julie Smith, and Angela Gauthier, both of Lewiston; two stepsons, Tommy Gauthier, and Todd Gauthier, both of North Carolina; one sister, Gail Jordan and her husband, John, of Turner; eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
