Durham: Warrant includes buildings
Two articles proposed by the Historical Society have been accepted for inclusion in the April town meeting warrant.
The first asks the town to accept the historic West Durham Methodist Church as a town building so that it can be insured under the town’s policy. The 200-plus-year-old church building, the second oldest in New England, was given to the society for preservation several years ago.
The second article seeks $5,000 toward current and future repairs to the town-owned Union Church building, which was used as a town office.
Both buildings are under the jurisdiction of the Historical Society.
