FARMINGTON – Sherman Elmer Brackett, 83, of Stratton, died on Feb. 6, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Salem, the son of Elmer S. and Emma E. (Searles) Brackett. He was educated in the Kingfield School system. He married Alice LeClair in Stratton in 1941, and she died in July of 1993.

He worked for Forster Manufacturing for 32 years, starting in the finishing department, and retiring as a boiler operator in 1985. He was a former member of Flagstaff Fish and Game Association in Stratton.

He is survived by four sons, Peter E. Brackett of Windsor, Va., Vincent G. Brackett of Charles City, Va., Lynn A. Brackett of Auburn, and Daniel B. Brackett of Sabattus; three daughters, Vivian L. Flanders of Acworth, N.H., D. Cecile Newell of Coplin Plantation, and Bettina M. Sirois of Ashboro, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alice, of 52 years; a grandson, Warren Newell; and his sister, Marion E. Haines.
