Dear Sun Spots: You are so good at helping people find things they need. So, I’m hoping you can help me.
We found a very good camera and we want to find its owner.
We put Found Ads in the Sun Journal as well as three other papers. We’ve put posters up and called possible leads. But nothing.
The camera was found on a hiking trail up Whitecap Mountain in Rumford. There is a sign-in box on the trail and we found the name Scott from Otisfield was entered but we can’t read the last name. Does anyone know of someone who lost a good digital camera around Jan. 9? If so, please call us at (207) 392-1288 to identify it. We do want to return this if we can. – Lida Isles, Andover.
Answer: Sun Spots does not typically run this particular type of inquiry in the column. However, it was the second letter the column received about this and Sun Spots felt sure there might be a reader out there who knew the owner.
Dear Sun Spots: Wow! What a response to my quest for National Geographics in Sun Spots! As of Feb. 2, I have heard from 26 people with old issues to donate. What a surprise to me. But it seems this is a hot article to be read by all. My dad will have magazines for a long time to come, thanks to the caring folks out there and the availability of space in your publication. Thanks again (a longtime carrier of the Sun Journal) – Cheryl Anastasio, Rumford.
Answer: Way to go, column readers! This response sure shows the power of everyone’s willingness to help others.
Dear Sun Spots: In January of 2004, I sent away for a Finding Nemo popcorn bowl for my son. I believe it was an ACT II popcorn offer. I sent a personal check, which has cleared, but never received the bowl. I have tried to contact the company but have not been able to get any information. Would Sun Spots be able to help me? Thank you for any help you can give. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: You will need to contact Act II/ConAgra Foods at (800) 736-2212 and provide them with your name, address and other information. They will then forward your request to the appropriate department. At the current time, they do not have enough details to look this up for you.
Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for your great service to the community with the Sun Spots articles. Sun Spots has been very helpful to many people.
I am looking for someone to build a doll case to display a bride doll. The case needs to be 30 inches high and 23-by-23 inches in width. Instead of glass I would like Plexiglas used for the sides and top and a wooden base. If anyone can build this for a reasonable price, please call Gloria at (207) 782-2868. – Gloria Chaloux, Sabattus.
