LEWISTON – Ralph A. Gilley, 75, of New Sharon, died late Wednesday night, Feb. 9, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
He was born in Augusta, Feb. 5, 1930, the son of Maynard Henry and Julia Elizabeth (Larrabee) Gilley. He received his education in Augusta schools. He was also a United States Army veteran.
On Christmas Day of 1984, he married Alice Mae Goodwin in Augusta. For many years, he was a helicopter mechanic at Sikorsky’s in Hartford, Conn. In 1984, he moved to New Sharon, where he and his wife built a home that he cherished.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was both artistic and mechanically talented, as he enjoyed tinkering on equipment and machinery, and painting with oils in his free time.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years of New Sharon; three daughters, Jeanne Milef of Dixfield, Diane Krawczyk and her husband, John, of Oxford and Connecticut, and Robin Rodriguez and her husband, Robert, of Connecticut; one stepson, Wayne Butkus of New Haven, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Pozucek, Heather Weymer, Brian Dodd, Daniel Dodd, Jefferey Goudreault, Monique Goudreault and Michael Goudreault; and several nieces and nephews.
