PORTLAND – Joe Gauthier scored a pair of goals and Nick Langlais was perfect in net as Lewiston defeated Portland 3-0 Monday.
Danny Cloutier got the scoring started for Lewiston early in the second period, taking a Kyle Beaulier pass and finding the back of the net.
Portland held off the Blue Devils attack until the thrid frame, when Gauthier tallied his two goals – the first on an assist from Beaulier and Cloutier, and the second an empty-netter, off an assist from Tim Roy and Adam Wilding.
The Rams couldn’t beat Langlais, as he stopped all 12 shots they threw at him. Ray Quattrucci finished the game with 23 saves for Portland. Portland falls to 11-4, while Lewiston improves to 14-4.
Lewiston will face Edward Little on Wednesday, and then play Bangor in the regular-season finale on Saturday.
