“It’s an experiment that has failed,” says state Sen. Ethan Strimling. I would suggest that it is Sen. Strimling who has failed if he persists in trying to scuttle the term-limits law, which was enacted as a result of a citizen initiative.
The blather coming out of his mouth and the mouths of other like-minded scuttlers is the same argument made against term limits when the voters had the decision before them many years ago. In that election, the people (how very democratic) rejected those arguments for allowing entrenched politicians and voted for periodic turnover.
Now, Strimling and others find the law inconvenient for their political careers. What a non-surprise. They give weight to the old adage that “No one’s life, liberty or property are safe when the Legislature is in session.”
