LEWISTON – Rita Dube, executive director of the Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s, will be the featured speaker at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at the Holy Cross Seniors’ meeting.

Her main topic will be insights on the history of the Franco-Americans in Lewiston. She will also speak on the circumstances leading to the acquisition of St. Mary’s Church, as well as the activities and programs offered at the cultural center.

Since 2001 Dube has been overseeing a $4.5 million campaign to renovate the church into a performing arts center, heritage museum and learning center.

Having been an active member of her community and serving on numerous boards and committees, Dube has been doing volunteer work for many organizations, churches, schools and the city of Lewiston. She is presently in charge of rentals, events, planning and development at the heritage center.

All area seniors are invited to attend. A social will follow and a light lunch will be served.
