BRUNSWICK – Eileen Flaherty netted 13 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead Bowdoin to a 58-46 victory over Maine Maritime in collegiate women’s basketball action. Alison Smith chipped in for Bowdoin (21-2) with 10 points, while Marisa Berne added nine. This was the 51st straight home win for Bowdoin.

Michelle Gott led Maine Maritime (19-4) with a game-high 20 points, while Alyssa Burns tallied 15. Bowdoin held a 33-18 advantage at the break and cruised home to an easy win.

Men’s basketball

St. Joseph’s 81, Thomas 63

STANDISH – Steve Monteiro drained 16 points and led a group of four players to reach double digits as St. Joseph’s sailed by Thomas 81-63 in a mens’ basketball matchup Wednesday. Jon Pratt and Marcus Alexander chipped in with 14 points each for the Monks (11-10), while Pat Mileski added 10.

James Godley led the Terriers (8-15) with a game-high 24 points, while Dan Grappi added nine. St. Joseph’s held a nine-point lead at the break, then pulled steadily away in the second half with a 39-30 run.
