LIVERMORE FALLS – Water District trustees had their first look at the proposed 2005 operations and capital expense budgets at their Wednesday meeting.

The total proposed for operations in 2005 is $871,000, up from last year’s budget of $839,700. The board will take action on the budget at the annual meeting in April. Superintendent Doug Burdo also presented his request for capital expenditures, which includes replacement of sand in the remaining two filter beds at an estimated $56,000.

Other proposals include $17,000 worth of work on the Jewell Street Station needed to reduce operating costs; a $4,000 mapping program and $2,300 for a tapping machine to replace the present one, which is no longer usable.

Smaller amounts are needed to replace hand tools and the existing filter lighting, and to upgrade the computer. Projects are also listed for Pearl and Spring streets and the Turmel Road.
