Marine Lt. Gen. James Mattis’ recent comment, “It’s a lot of fun to shoot some people,” is typical of this administration’s jackboot mentality of bringing democracy to the rest of the world.

It seems very apparent that the right-wing leadership of this country is bent on creating a new world order, whether the world likes it or not. This is a very frightening prospect, because the last time a nation sought to provide a new world order, millions of innocent people died. To date, there have been thousands of Iraqis killed for the sole purpose of bringing freedom to them. How ironic. Over 1,400 Americans have lost their lives in this effort which was based on a carefully crafted lie used to deceive the Congress and the American people.

It is time to have a dialogue about this tragedy. If we are unhappy with the direction the current leadership has taken, we must speak out. This administration has branded its critics as traitors if they dare say anything against its policy decisions. That is done to frighten anyone with an opposing point of view into silence.

As Americans, we have an obligation to this democracy to speak out when we feel government officials are not serving the best interest of the nation.

If people are not happy about what our leaders are force-feeding them about other nations, they should let officials know before any more lives are sacrificed to this new world order.
