KINGFIELD – Ruth A. LaHouse, 81, passed away on Feb. 19, at her residence in Kingfield. She was born on Feb. 2, 1924, in Kingfield, the daughter of James and Lilla (Hutchins) Howe.

She was a graduate of Kingfield High School. She was married to Kenneth Strout, until his death, and then she later married Edmund LaHouse in 1965 in Connecticut.

She worked as a waitress for many years in Connecticut, and then owned a gift shop in Florida, until retiring to Kingfield in 1988.

She enjoyed crafts, making doll houses, knitting and crocheting. She loved to cook and entertain guests. She also was an animated fan of the Boston Red Sox and Celtics, as she watched them play on TV.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Custer of Kingfield, and Joan Kiminski; one son, Edward “Sonny” LaHouse; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Brindley-Sawyer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her two husbands, Kenneth Strout and Edmund LaHouse; four sisters, Evangeline Kennedy, Minnie Lovejoy, Blanche Brindley and Willetta Howe; and four brothers, Charles Howe, Everett Howe, Arthur Brindley and Richard Brindley.
