NORWAY – Winifred D. Brown, 87, of Norway, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Norway on Jan. 4, 1918, the daughter of Clarence S. and Grace Flood Dunham. She graduated from Norway High School in 1935. She had been employed at B. E. Cole for a short time, and had been a homemaker all of her life.

She married Liston M. Brown, on Dec. 27, 1952. They moved to East Poland in 1967 to be closer to Liston’s work.

She was active at the Universalist Church in Norway. She was a member of the Clara Barton Guild. She and her husband always supported the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and the Multiple Sclerosis Association. She enjoyed crocheting, fancy embroidery, flowers and birds. She had many happy memories of growing up near Norway Lake.

She is survived by two sons, Charles and his wife, Shirley, of Norway, and Brian of Prospect, Conn.; three grandsons, Scott and his wife, Lauri, of Norway, and Kyle and Kevin both of Milford, Conn.; two great-granddaughters, Emily and Anna Huff; a sister, Esther Nava of Norway; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2004; a son, Bruce Huff; and a brother, Ralph Dunham.
