PORTLAND – The Center for Law and Innovation at the University of Maine School of Law presents “Copyright and Media: A seminar on copyright and publicity law for creators of audio-visual works.”
The seminar is scheduled for between noon and 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, at Room 424 Glickman Library, USM Campus.
The seminar will feature two lawyers, Gloria Pinza of Pierce Atwood and Kevin Haley of Brann & Isaacson.
Planned is a discussion on how copyright affects those who work in the media industry. Learn about registering a copyright, the key provisions of a “work for hire” agreement, the importance of clearing the rights to incorporated works, how to get a license to use a sound recording, the parameters of “fair use” and more.
Pinza is a partner at Pierce Atwood in Portland, where she chairs the firm’s intellectual property practice group. She spent eight years as an entertainment law attorney with a Hollywood law firm before returning to Maine.
Haley practices intellectual property law with Brann and Isaacson in Lewiston, working with clients on copyright and trademark matters. He is the chair of the intellectual property section of the Maine State Bar Association.
