YARMOUTH – Maurice Eugene “Moe” Berube, 77, of Jay, died Sunday evening, Feb. 27, 2005, at the Brentwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Yarmouth, with his three sons by his side.

He was born July 4, 1927, in St. Pamphile, Canada, one of 17 children of Cleophas and Eugenie (Veilleux) Berube. He received his education in Canadian schools.

He was a veteran, having served as an MP with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

For many years, he owned and operated Moe’s Auto Repair on Park Street in Livermore Falls. He will be remembered as a reserved man who enjoyed carpentry and tinkering in his workshop and garage. He especially enjoyed spending time in Friendship, surrounded by the rustic beauty of the seacoast.

He is survived by his boys, Armand Berube and Dan Berube, both of South Carolina and Claude Berube of Jay; his longtime companion, Florence Cushman of Friendship; six grandchildren, Nathan, Nic, Drew, Cassie, Autumn and Meranda Berube; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Ann; two brothers and six sisters, all from Canada.

He was predeceased by his parents; six brothers; and two sisters.
