MONROE, Ga. – Sherri Lee Roop, 23, formerly of Lisbon and Lewiston, died early Sunday morning, Feb. 27, at Walton County Medical Center with her mom and stepdad at her side.

She was born in the Republic of Panama, June 13, 1981, a daughter of Sandra Lizotte and Steve Roop, and grew up in the communities of Lisbon, Lewiston and Greene.

While at Langston’s Personal Care Home in Woodstock, Ga., where she had resided since November 2001, she had three other roommates who she loved dearly like sisters. Ms. Ashley was her favorite.

Her room was where all videos were watched, and since Elmo was her favorite, it was watched many times. She loved Sesame Street and she also had a deep love for storytime books. She would love for the staff to tell her about the characters and animals in the story, it was like it came to life to her. She loved to dance in front of the mirror while she was getting dressed and very often stopped to show the staff a picture of one of her family members which led to naming the whole family. She loved her family and loved to talk about them often.

School was fun for her. Her two most favorite things she loved was spending time with her friends there and attending every dance they had. She also loved to bring home her work and show it off.

She was so involved in her community that everyone was on a first name basis with her. Even at church she knew how to get her praise on. If anyone asked her how life was, she would say GREAT and then give them a heavy-handed high five.

She leaves her mother, Sandy Rampey and her husband, Mike, of Monroe, Ga.; her father, Steve Roop and his wife, Elaine, of Auburn; her sisters, Stephanie St. Laurent and her husband, Jesse, of Auburn, and Heather Tingley of Fla.; her maternal grandparents, Shirley and Armand Lizotte of Lisbon, whom she called “Grammy and Grampa Horace”; her paternal grandparents, Charles Martin and Mary Jane Roop of Lisbon, whom she called “Nana and Grampa Guff”; her paternal great-grandmother, Madeleine Roop of Millinocket; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and her extended family and friends in Georgia, especially Mrs. Langston and Ethyl.
