BRIDGTON – The Lake Region Trails Summit will bring together a diverse group of people to create a regional vision of trails in the Lakes Region from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, March 4, at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St.

Some of the questions to be addressed will be: Where are the trails in the region? How do trail projects get started? Where is the funding? What are the “nuts and bolts” of trail building? How do we develop a regional trail coalition?

John Balicki, Department of Transportation bicycle and pedestrian coordinator, and David Kinsman of the Mountain Division Alliance and Rails to Trails Program will speak.

Bridie McGreavey of the Lakes Environmental Association will update those attending on their latest project.

The major focus of the summit will be discussion about the regional trail work that is in progress and trails that are still in the planning stages.

The Lake Region Healthy Communities Coalition, Lakes Environmental Association, Casco Open Space Committee and the local Healthy Maine Partnership are sponsoring the event.

Anyone involved in trails in the Lake Region or who wants to become involved in creating a regional vision of healthy trails should attend the summit. For more information, contact McGreavey at 647-8580 or Carmen Lone at 647-3116.
