NEWRY – An 18-year-old Bethel woman died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident late Saturday afternoon in Newry.
Michelle Ann Waterhouse was driving southbound on Monkey Brook Road at 5 p.m. when the 1992 Ford she was driving hit a patch of ice.
According to a Maine State Police dispatcher on Tuesday, when Waterhouse’s vehicle struck the ice, it crossed the road and struck a guardrail and a telephone pole before it toppled down a 100-foot embankment and rolled over.
The dispatcher said the report listed speed and driver inexperience, as well as road conditions, as the cause of the accident.
Waterhouse was traveling alone.
