OXFORD – Police are continuing to investigate the cause of Wednesday night’s head-on crash on Route 26 in Oxford that killed an Auburn man and caused two women to be hospitalized.
Lt. Jon Tibbetts said Friday afternoon that David E. Adams, 60, an Auburn Charter Commission member and former Auburn city councilor, died Thursday morning at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
A medical examiner has determined the cause of death, but it is not to be released until the investigation is completed, which Tibbetts said would take at least a week.
Adams was driving north in his Ford pickup truck when it and a Ford SUV traveling south collided on Pigeon Hill at 6 p.m., police said.
Joyce Egge, 50, of Danbury, N.H., driver of the SUV, and Faustina Chamberlain, 88, of West Baldwin, her passenger, were admitted to CMMC on Wednesday night.
Chamberlain was listed in good condition Friday. Egge, who was in stable condition Thursday, was no longer a patient, hospital spokesman Randy Dustin said.
