PORTLAND – Joanne Boulay St. Hilaire, 72, of 267 Woodman Hill Road, Minot, died Thursday evening, March 3, following a long illness.

She was born Feb. 21, 1933, to Sergius J. and Helen J. Boulay at Central Maine General Hospital in Lewiston.

Her ancestors were early settlers to the greater Boston area. Ann Pollard was the first maiden to touch Boston soil and Asa Pollard was the first to die at the battle of Bunker Hill.

Normand and Joanne were happily married for 53 years, and were longtime residents of the Twin Cities. For the past 20 years, they spent the majority of their time in Florida where she enjoyed playing cards and shuffleboard with so many of her dear friends. She is lovingly remembered for her great generosity, devotion to family and friends, and her wonderful sense of humor. Her home and heart were always open and filled with warmth, love and kindness. She was a loving, giving, warm-hearted person who was compassionate and sensitive. She touched everyone in her life in so many wonderful ways and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Normand; sister, Lorraine Littlefield; five children, Lorrie and James Young, Cheryl and Michael Dubois, Deborah St. Hilaire, Normand Charles “Chuck” and Vickie St. Hilaire, and Cathy and Scott Bridgers. Her great joy and love were her 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Ruth-Hannah Kevitch, Jamie Hird, Elizabeth Young, Normand Patrick St. Hilaire, Sarah St. Hilaire, James Young, Benjamin Young, Katelyn St. Hilaire, Baylee Bridgers, Henrik St. Hilaire Morseth, Austin Bridges, Elijah Benjamin and Aaron Jacob.
