NEWINGTON, Conn. – Marguerite (Cyr) Fournier of Newington, Conn., passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, in Newington.

She was born in Lewiston, on July 7, 1925, and had lived in Connecticut since 1951. She retired in 1987 after 40 years of teaching; five years at St. Peter’s School in Lewiston, three years at St. Patrick’s School in Hartford, Conn., and 37 years at the Cathedral of St. Joseph’s School in Hartford, Conn.

Her family and friends will remember her as an independent, youthful, loving, warm and beautiful women who wasn’t afraid to speak her peace. She was passionate about teaching. She enjoyed working with children, spending time with her grandson, crocheting, reading, traveling, hockey, watching UCONN women’s basketball, cooking and entertaining.

She was loved and will be missed by her family, her daughter, Madeleine “Lynne” Fournier of Newington, Conn.; her daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Vincent Fugaro of New Britain, Conn.; and her beloved and cherished grandson, Marc Fugaro of New Britain, Conn,; her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Robert Dam of Lewiston; sisters-in-law Louella Fournier of Hartford, Conn., and Priscilla Fournier of Lewiston; special “in-laws” Donald and Marthe Bissonnette, Roger and Jeanne Bissonnette, and Normand and Yolande Bissonnette, all of Lewiston, and Dorothy LaFontaine of Middleboro, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Lucien E. Fournier; her parents; three brothers; and four sisters.
